Bluebonnets are showing their beautiful faces along the byways and highways of the Texas Hill Country. Today I spotted the first grouping of wildflowers and had a giggle, a dance, a hooting and a hollering all along the drive. I thank Spirit for Lady Bird Johnson with her vast wisdom to save these stunning displays of magical colors and promises of life on earth renewed.
As a young girl I was thrilled to identify each flower and grab bouquets to share with anyone and everyone who loved flowers. I so enjoyed the shapes the smells and the promises of life renewed that wildflowers bring each spring. By the time I was in junior high the wildflowers had disappeared. They were mowed down by men dancing after a perfect lawn, a roadway cleared, a field mowed too soon, a rancher keeping admirers off the beauty and splender of “his” land never realizing the land belongs to the planet.
Lady Bird Johnson saved one of Texas’ most valuable treasures and every spring I ask Spirit to help her descendants and bless them and ask their path through their lives adventures be prosperous, beautiful and filled with love, grace and dignity.
As long as there are wildflowers in Texas I will be addicted to their beauty and joyful at their arrival each spring.
